At Glenny Wood camp site, you are welcome to use our Altar fires. This is part of our scouting tradition after all. Glenny is in a woodland area, often with lots of young people on site, so please be extra vigilant when lighting fires.

The Bouldering Wall
The aim is to traverse horizontally across the bouldering wall from start to finish.
To add challenge if needed you can aim to use a single coloured hold to complete this.
Only 3 on the wall at any one time, all wearing helmets.

We have a dedicated Grass Sledge run with a boards beside Willow plateau with 6 grass sledges to ride on, now kept in the shed by the run.
We have 2 large and a number smaller karts to be used on our dedicated area on Sycamore.
The larger Karts are for all users and the smaller karts are for Beavers and Cubs please. Traffic cones are provided to mark out your course.
Enjoy riding around ...Tip use the area nearest the tyres for best results
Scout Pioneering is the original big build. Challenge yourself to build out of wood poles and rope, a project that you could perhaps climb over, slide down, catapult an object, create a gateway… and much more.
Let your imagination work with your knotting, lashing and pioneering skills to build something spectacular
This is an area great for nature activities such as pond dipping.
The area has a large decking area covered in artificial grass for you to pond dip off and a stream running through it......
We have pond dipping equipment available along with nets and information cards.
Snookball is a hybrid sport that blends pool with football.
The principle of the game is based on pool but the balls are replaced by footballs and the cue by a pair of feet.
Tip - Don't whack the white ball, use skill and angles to pocket the coloured balls ....Have FUN
A new and different way to use Tug of War...
We have 4 ropes attached in the middle to a role loop.
The aim is all 4 teams pull the centre loop over their target line. Teams can swivel to cooperate / compete with other teams, then switch directions, etc.
We have a fabulous Glenny Tunneling system with around 45 metres of tunnels to crawl along and 12 escape hatches.
Lots of FUN in this unique area and on the Factsheet there are a number of games you can play in the tunnels.
We supply helmets, please bring head torches.
Holly campfire -
This campfire area is just below the lodge.
This is a large campfire area in a sloping area with three of the sides sloping down to the fire pit.
It is a fabulous place for all campfire activities, from a small group or. a large group event of over 100...
Maple campfire - This campfire area is near Apple at the bottom of the plateau, near the steam and above the loo block. This is a very traditional area with logs to site on, which will accommodate between 15/20 people.
Rowan campfire -
Far end of the site between Willow and above the confidence course.
This is a very traditional area with logs to site on, which will accommodate between 20/30 people and there is plenty not room behind the logs for camp chairs so extra people can come and join in the fun
Apple – Is our largest plateau, which gently slopes towards the lodge and loos. An ideal camping area measuring 77 meters long, and 31 meters wide This good size area can accommodate 4/5 patrol tents and kitchens or 25+ 2 person hike tents
Beech- An ideal camping area, below the lodge. This area is flat and 38 meters long, and 13 meters wide This good size area can accommodate 3/4 patrol tents and kitchens or 10+ 2 person hike tents
Hawthorne is a small plateau is a small sloping plateau below the Activities area. It is approximately 18 meters long and 10 meters wide, variable. The plateau can accommodate 4 or 5, 2 person hike tents, pitched on the slope
Hawthorne is an ideal base for the evening visit to Glenny and central to the site
Hazel is a small plateau which is 50% "flatish" and near to the loo block. It is approximately 43 meters long and 10 meters wide. The flat area of the plateau accommodate 2/3 patrol tents and kitchen and overall 8-10 2 person hike tents.
The Stepped Plateaus is the collective name for 5 plateaus comprising of - Oak, Birch, Spruce, Cherry, and Ash
These 5 plateaus are excellant areas for a Scout Troop camp, Pack or Explorer Camp.

Ash –our smallest plateau at the bottom of the plateau area. It is 15 meters long and 8.5 meters wide.
The plateau has a small flat area which can accomodate one patrol tent and kitchen or 5 + 2 person hike tents. Ideal for kitchen / communal tents as there is hard standing on this area.
Birch - Good area, flat and 48 meters long and 3 meters wide increasing to 7 meters wide at the end “bubble”. This good size area, can accomodate 2 patrol tents and kitchens or 7 + 2 person hike tents.
Cherry - An ideal area both to use on a visit or for camping. It is, flat and 49 metres long, and 5.5 meters wide increasing to 7.5 meters wide.
This good size area, can accomodate 2/3 patrol tents and kitchens or 10 + 2 person hike tents
Oak - An ideal camping area, flat and 22 meters long and 4 meters wide increasing to 9 meters wide at the end “bubble”.
This good size area, can accomodate 1 patrol tent and kitchen or 5 + 2 person hike tents. Being at the top of the plateaus this is a great site for seeing what’s happening below, ideal for Leaders!
Spruce - An ideal area, flat and 52 meters long and 5 meters wide. This good size area, can accomodate 3/4 patrol tents and kitchens or 10 + 2 person hike tents

In the Activities shed there are two boxes where you can lock your mobile phone whilst charging. You need to bring your own lead / plug / adapter. The phones remain at your own risk at all times.
