Description

The Beavers and cubs will learn to say the Beaver and cub promise in sign language and also to sign their own names

Resources

A person who can sign using BSL. Printed sheets showing each promise in BSL. Ear defenders or ear plugs so the Beavers and cubs can at least experience a little of what it is like to be deaf.

Instructions

The Beavers and Cubs will be split into groups and the instructor will teach each section the Beaver or Scout Promise. The instructor will teach each child how to sign their name. The instructor will explain to the children how to converse with a person that is deaf, ie how to talk, not to all speak at once, not to walk or turn away when speaking
