Description
Making pies using tinfoil cases, puff pastry and rhubarb
Resources
Tinfoil case (1 per beaver, small takeaway size), ready to roll puff pastry (1/4 of packet per beaver), some stewed rhubarb (or other fruit), rolling pins, dinner knives, serving spoons, beaten egg, soft brown sugar.
Instructions
The beavers get a piece of pastry, rolling pin and blunt dinner knife to make a cover for their pie (using the lid for the tinfoil case as a template). They need to roll out their piece of pastry, cut out the rectangular template and then use the remaining pieces to make decorative shapes for the top of the pie.
Once they have done this put some stewed fruit in the tinfoil case, place the pie top onto the stewed fruit and then paint it with beaten egg and add a sprinkling of soft brown sugar.
Lastly write the beaver's name on the lid and put it on top of the tinfoil case so that they can take it home at the end of the meeting to cook in their oven.
