Build a chain reaction machine to extinguish the light from a candle

Anything that is available in the Scout Stores

Instructions

- Split the Section into small groups and issue each group with the attached sheet
- The object is to devise a chain reaction in the given time limit, being as creative as possible and using the equipment to hand
- Encourage the groups to use different machine ideas such as pendulums, pulleys, see-saws, but also to use their own imagination
- At the end gather the groups together to view each of the chain reactions. Follow this up by explaining some simple pioneering principles, using the inventions as examples

The 'Reactor System' which has the greatest variety of movement and lasts the longest is the winner
