Description

Simulate a burn

Resources

Vaseline, paper tissue, red face paint.

Cotton wool ball to apply the red pain.

Cloth to clean vaseline from fingers.

Instructions

Put some red face paint (I normally use Snazaroo) where you want the burn to be
Place a small lump of vaseline on the skin on the area
Take a small piece of single ply of paper tissue. Having torn rough edges is fine and looks good. Smooth down the edges with a little of the vaseline on your fingers

Works really well for burns on the palm of the hand as you can see it move as they move their hand.

Please note the first aid update in 2021 for treating burns, the NHS updated it back in 2018 (

Cool the burn with cool or lukewarm running water for 20 minutes as soon as possible after the injury. Never use ice, iced water, or any creams or greasy substances like butter.

Can use then in scenarios to get the Cubs, Scouts or Explorers to come in and treat the casualties. Can do an Incident with casualties having burns/scalds and fake wounds (see fake wounds and blood).
