Recycling Christmas Cards

Enough cards for 2 or 3 per child
Information from the Woodland Trust on their Christmas card recycling scheme

Instructions

- Put the young people into small groups and hand out to them some old Christmas
cards
- Ask the children what their families do with old Christmas or birthday cards. Some
people use the old cards to make new cards next year, some use them to write notes
on, some use them to make present labels next year
- Ask the groups to look at the cards you have handed out to see if any of the cards
are made of recycled paper or suggest that they can be recycled
- The Woodlands Trust has a Christmas card recycling scheme and have collection
points in some of the big shops
- Talk with the young people about what good it does and why it is important to recycle
material not just cards
