Resources
The Gaelic Society's Resource Pack, local map (or a map of Scottish Mountains) and/or a Gaelic speaker
Instructions
Contact the Gaelic Society and ask for the resource pack on "Gaelic in the local area". Get the YPs to look at their local map (or a map of Scottish hills) and identify any names they think are Gaelic. Ask them about the features they can see on the map around the name or if they know the area ask them about the area itself. Translate the Gaelic name and see if they can discover why that name was given. Ask them to identify 5 features with Gaelic names and to learn them. Take turns to show the rest of the pack the map and for them to give the Gaelic name and tell the meaning to the rest of of the group.
