Description

Under adult supervision plan, cook, serve and clear away, a two course meal of a savoury toasted sandwich and fruit skewer.


Resources

Equipment: Toasted sandwich makers x3, spatulas x3 (to lift sandwich off toaster), butter knives x20, cutting knives x6, cutting boards, skewers x24, plates x 48
Ingredients: Cub's own sandwich fillings and fruit brought from home. Sliced loaves x3, butter x3, (extra cheese and fruit for anyone who doesn't have ingredients)

Instructions

Cubs in their sixes, some cubs moved to another six to even up numbers. Each six grouped around a table near a power socket. Reiterant task then ask cubs to recall food safety and hygiene rules, and hazard of hot toastie maker and hot food. Prompt to tie back hair, turn neckers to the back and to wash hands. Adult supervision of use of knives, but encourage independence for rest of task apart from adult supervision of use of the toasted sandwich maker which will become hot, and of taking out the hot sandwich.
Cubs should make the sandwich first, so it can be toasting as they make the fruit skewer. when all the food has been prepared the cubs clear away and wash all the equipment before eating their meal.
