Instructions

Simply write 1-26 on the grid paper, then line up the alphabet underneath e.g

1 2 3 4

cut between the two and then slide one down the alphabet creating a code changing the meaning of the number eg

A B C D E
25 26 1 2 3

Get the child to write out a secret message to their friend and then the friend has to figure out what the key is to break the code.

Depending on age of cubs either get them to give the key to the code or keep the key a secret. (tested out, young cubs need the key to cracking the code)
