Research peace symbols and make a peace mobile

Resources

Plant sticks, string or cotton, paper or card, pens, tape or glue, scissors, hole punch

Instructions

Cut the sticks to desired length (about 20cm works well) and give each girl two. Square lash them together so they are a right angles - younger girls may need this to be done for them, but it is a good opportunity to practise knots. Draw 5 peace symbols onto the paper or card and cut them out. Make a hole in the top of each one and use string to tie them onto the end of each stick with one in the center. Tie a loop on the the center to use for hanging the mobile. Encourage the girls to research peace symbols before hand so they can understand the meanings behind what they draw and discuss the different symbols
