Cool the burn with cool or lukewarm running water for 20 minutes as soon as possible after the injury. Never use ice, iced water, or any creams or greasy substances like butter.
Dealing with burns and scalds appears in both Stage Two and Three of the Emergency Aid Staged Activity Badge
- The session should include a variety of methods to reinforce the learning, and these can be used at other times in the programme as a refresher
- There are three components:
1. Session notes
2. An ordered response activity
3. A true or false activity
