6. Know and understand the flag of the Irish Girl Guides

Optional: Print flag template in attached file (also available on IGG Website)
Optional: Cardboard, Green
Paper and Yellow Paper

The flag is emerald green representing Ireland with the gold trefoil of the Irish Girl Guides in the centre. Explain to the Brownies that the trefoil has a celtic knot superimposed on it to symbolise unending friendship.

• A copy of the flag for colouring is available next page or can be printed directly from IGG website: www.irishgirlguides.ie/images/documents/flagcolour.pdf
• You could make a large copy of the flag with a sheet of green cardboard and cut out yellow cardboard for the trefoil
• Borrow a flag, if one is available, from a local Guide Company. Seeing is believing!
