Introduction:
This activity can be done in Patrols or individually. The aim of the activity is to get the Guides to reflect on a Guiding event that they have attended, and to practice good writing skills, e.g. writing in paragraphs.
Instructions:
If doing as a Patrol activity, Guides first discuss together their highlights of the event, and everything they can remember about the event.
The Guides make a mind map to help them plan out each paragraph of their report.
If doing as a Patrol activity, each Guide should pick a paragraph they wish to write.
Guides can then choose appropriate photo(s) to accompany the article, or alternatively, draw pictures to represent their experiences of the event
Submitting article:
All members of IGG are encouraged to submit material for Trefoil News. Material for inclusion should arrive at National Office by the 1st of the month prior to issue (e.g. September 1st for the October issue) and should be addressed to: The Editor, Trefoil News, Irish Girl Guides, 27 Pembroke Park,Dublin 4, or sent by email to: trefoil.news@irishgirlguides.ie
Debrief:
When writing their paragraph/full report the Guides should be conscious of neat handwriting, correct spelling, paragraphs, heading etc. This activity could be repeated as a Patrol or individually after every Guiding event the Guides attend and the reports collated into an individual or Patrol scrapbook and presented to each Guide/Patrol at the end of the Guiding year as a souvenir and reminder of everything they participated in that year.
