Instructions
1. Tent in bag is given to each Patrol Leader.
2. Optional: Mark the location where each Patrol should pitch
their tent (spread evenly from starting point).
3. On signal, Patrol runs to marked area and sets up tent.
4. Leader needs to verify that the tent is pitched correctly.
5. The Patrol takes it down, packs it, and carries it back to
starting line.
6. First Patrol to get back to starting line and sitting down wins
or if using just one tent then the next Patrol starts.
Debrief
Discuss what can be done to care for your tent including:
Objects should never touch the inside of a tent in the rain as water will seep through the fabric
Remove shoes and boots on entering a tent
Do not walk over the flysheet or inner liner of a tent when pitching or striking it, as this may damage the fabric
Do not cut corners – always pitch tents properly, and fold and pack them carefully for storage to avoid damage
Ensure that the door of the tent will not face into the prevailing wind
Empty the tent bag and lay out the various parts of the tent to ensure that you are not missing any vital parts
