Instructions
With no 2, 3, 4, 8 and 19 of this Badge set up Activity Stations
Demonstrate activities 2, 3, 8 and 19 to the whole Unit
Once demonstration is completed – practice horseshoe formation. When the Guides are in the Horseshoe invite them to turn to each other and demonstrate the international symbol of recognition. (salute and left handshake)
Dismiss the Horseshoe
Explain to Patrol Leaders this is a patrol challenge. Ask them to divide their Patrols into three groups and assign each group an activity station. Explain each activity will take 10mins and a whistle will be blown to instruct the guides to move to the next activity station.
Once all have groups have visited each activity station, Patrols will be invited back to sit together in the circle. A bag containing activity cards will be passed around the circle; each guide tries to complete her chosen activity. See attached list overleaf. The Leader could have tokens to award to guides – at the end of the time allowed. Each patrol would count their tokens to see who has won.
Discussion
Explain that these guiding traditions are in existence since Lard Baden Powell founded the Boy Scouts. Ask the girls did they enjoy the activities and would they like to complete five more options of the badge in the future.
