Create a device to filter impurities out of water and make it safe to drink. Demonstrate how to kill germs in water so that you won't catch any diseases.
Rig up a system to collect rainwater without it getting dirty.
Your tents, dining shelter and tables have been destroyed in a tornado. Build a shelter for all of your patrol, using other items of equipment in your site or that you can forage for.
Make a bed from natural materials, to insulate sleeping scouts from the cold ground they are lying on.
Light a fire using just one match. The fire must keep burning for 5 minutes without relighting, although you can add more fuel to the fire at any time. You only get one attempt at this task.
Make dough and cook twists without using any metal equipment. You may use a knife to strip bark from a twig to cook the twist.
Make a trap to catch small mammals or birds. Demonstrate how it works.
Make 3 different kinds of distress signal to attract attention from a search plane during daytime.
Use some device other than a compass to find North, to an accuracy of + or - 20 degrees. Place a stick on the ground pointing North so that it can be judged for accuracy by a leader.
