Introduction
The ladybirds will learn the importance of being aware of Bullying and being able to recognise what to do to help themselves and others

Instructions
Write the words below on card and give them to the girls and ask them to make sentences of them.

Bullying is not ok – you have the right to feel safe
Bullying is trying to make someone else feel bad
Be a buddy, not a bully
See it, get help, stop it.

Let the girls all sit in a circle or in small groups if there are enough leaders present. Discuss the above sentences with the girls. Allow them to say what they think bullying is.

You can then give a brief description of Bullying – Bullying can happen to anyone at any age. Being bullied at school, home or online might involve someone pushing you, hitting you, teasing you, calling you names or talking about you behind your back. No one has the right to hurt you or make you feel bad. If you are being bullied, you don’t have to put up with it – you can talk to someone.

Write an Anti – Bullying Policy for your unit
Ask the girls:
1. What they don’t want to happen, eg girls being upset, someone being left out, being pushed.
2. What they should do if they see something, eg tell a leader, a senior branch girl or a friend and write a policy based on what they want.
