Cover some ground using Scout's pace - alternating walking and running
Good walking/running shoes
Scout's pace is designed to cover ground quickly without tiring you out. Alternate walking 50 paces and running 50 paces until you reach your destination. If there are suitable environmental markers you may be able to use lampposts or blocks or road markers instead of counting. Baden Powell described Scout's pace in Scouting for Boys.
Use it to get to or from a planned activity quickly.
Use it in a wide game to make a transition between activities more interesting.
Challenge the group to memorise a message and deliver it on arrival.
NZ GirlGuiding Guides activity: Find out how to do Scout’s Pace and use this to travel at least two kilometres. Explain why this is a good way to cover a long distance.
