Activity to demonstrate the various burning qualities of different woods.

(This is not intended to be fire lighting practice, so lighting the fires should be made easy with firelighters or similar)

Various types of wood - oak, pine, hornbeam, hazel, beech etc.
Firelighters
Marshmallows

Instructions

Light 1 fire per patrol, then burn different woods on them and compare the burning qualities.
