Introduction
Most fires happen at night when people are asleep. Smoke from a fire will send people into a deeper sleep. Smoke alarms give an early warning of fire which gives people time to act before being overcome by dangerous fumes and smoke


Instructions
• Ideally have a smoke alarm available for this activity
• Using the information (see overleaf) discuss the reasons for using a fire alarm and how to maintain
• Show Brownies how to test alarm
• The exercise for Brownies is to test the fire alarm at home with the permission of their Parents (see sample permission slip overleaf)
