Beavers learn to make and use tin can telephones

Resources

100 gm used coffee cans (with pre-drilled holes in base (ensuring no sharp edges)
Lots of string
Scissors

Instructions

In pairs, Beavers cut a long length of string (c. 2 metre)
With adult help they thread the string through two cans and tie off. Then they whisper something to each other across the room, can they hear it?
Now repeat, but whispering the message into the can, can they hear it better now?
Try the message with string loose, try the message with string taut. What's the difference?
