Carousel of craft activities (15 minutes each) - headdresses and bead making with paper and straws:_

Resources

Base 1: A4 card works best cut to size , long, medium and short ready folded for Beavers. Ready prepared card stencils. Strips of card for headbands. Parcel tape. Scissors.

Base 2: String with one bead tied on the end. Cut straws. Feathers. Crayons. Ribbon/ elastic. Stapler and staples.

Base 3: Straws. Postit strips. Glue sticks. Lengths of string.

Base 4 1.5m lengths of brown paper. Scissors. Stapler and staples. Jugs of squash for waiting times.

Instructions

Carousel of craft activities (15 minutes each) - headdresses and bead making with paper and straws:_

Base 1 Cut out card feathers.
1. Beavers choose 2 large 2 medium and 2 small pieces of folded card.
2. Leaving card folded take the right length stencil and fold around folded strip and draw around. Beavers should be able to leave the strip folded and cut out feather shapes.
3. Beavers cut snips in the end of the feathers to make them look like feathers.

Base 2 . Decorate headband with patterns, bead strings (threading cut straws), Tape on card feathers and ribbon/ elastic. Stick on a few real feathers, beads etc. Staples for extra fastening can be used.

Base 3 Make beads.
1. Beavers use a straw and attach the sticky end of a small postit to the straw.
2. Roll the post it on and fasten with pritt stick, Beavers can change the look of their beads by leaving strips hanging or cutting a point at the end of the post it.
3. Thread onto string.

Base 4 On the floor Beavers snip fringes for brown paper tabard to be animal skins. Leader to staple around Beavers so they wear it. Snack break also
