The sun or another light source such as a lamp or light
Chalk
Pens
Plastic toy animals

Instructions

Let the girls have a go at these activities - for any having trouble making shadows, be sure they have their back to the light source.

1. Give each Pippin an animal, a pen and a piece of paper.
Get her to place the animal on the paper so it creates a shadow. Get the Pippin to draw around the shadow on the paper.
Can other girls guess the animal from it's shadow?

2. In pairs, one girl makes a pose and the second Pippin draws around her.
Can the girls guess who is who from their shadow?
