Preparation
 Print out the codes sheets – you need one for each child.
If you have all young Beavers you may want them to do this in pairs

Instructions

How to Play
1. Speak – As it’s Remembrance Day soon we are going to decode some secret messages.
In the war, countries would communicate with their people using coded messages so that the enemy couldn’t
decipher their secret actions.
“Did you know that in 2012, in a chimney in England, an older couple found the skeleton of a World War II spy pigeon with a red cylinder still attached to its leg? When they opened up the cylinder, there was a secret, coded message inside. “
2. Action – Give the children the picture on the following page and the coded message for them to crack

Easy
When you have cracked this code go to the middle of your room and dance like crazy

Medium
If you cracked this code, pretend you are a ballet dancer and dance around your room for thirty seconds.
This uses Backwards code…If the children are struggling without this tell them to write it down like this on a scrap piece of paper.

Hard
After you’ve cracked this code walk to the middle of the room and pretend to sing and perform like a rockstar
