Description

Using a clean, empty toilet roll as a telescope, the Beavers (astronauts) look for planets/ stars/ constellations that the leaders have stuck around the hall and tick them off on a fact sheet.

Resources

Empty toilet rolls (if you have longer you can decorate the tubes for Craft badge awards)
Images of the planets
Activity sheet with a tick list of planets, how many stars can they spot etc.
Plastic hoops for space pods.

Instructions

Beavers must not leave their "space pod" (a hoop on the floor they can't move from) while they look for the objects around the room.

When the leader shouts "alien attack!", the Beavers have to move to another space pod to continue their work. Remember, in space, there's no gravity so they have to move slowly!

Can the Beavers name all 8 planets before you start the activity? How many stars can they count?
