Hanukkah- Menorah

Introduction:
The Brownies will learn about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah and colour a menorah.

Instructions
1. Share the facts below with the Brownies.
2. Give each Brownie a copy of the menorah template to colour in and decorate in celebration of Hanukkah.

Facts for Leaders on Hanukkah
• Hanukkah is the Jewish festival of lights.
• It normally takes place at the beginning of December
• The festival lasts for eight days and involves an eight-branched candlestick called a Hanukkah menorah.
• The menorah is lit every night and blessings are said.
• It reminds the Jews of a miracle in which the menorah in the Temple of Jerusalem, the sacred city of the Jews, kept burning for eight days when there was only enough oil for one night.
