drop cloth, rollers, brushes, paint tray, surface to paint on (wood sheet or drywall), primer and finish coat examples, primer paint to use, latex versus enamel paints

Instructions

Discuss goals for house painting, and the mandatory nature of primer over raw wood or drywall/plaster.
Show water-based versus thinner/oil based paints. (smell, cleanup, adhereance to some surfaces.
All must be clean, sanded, and dry.

Use of brush versus roller, and why. (brush gets into corners and can get you started, roller covers large area and gets smooth even coat)

Show roller nap (fur depth) and how that is used.
Have the youth paint part of a board with the roller, learning loading the roller, and technique for overlapping strokes.
