Resources
A Christmas stockings for each lodge
20 coloured baubles for each lodge (one colour per lodge)
Peppermint candy canes for treat
Glow sticks
Sets of Christmas lights powered by batteries (one set per lodge)
Each beaver to bring a torch
Hi-vis jackets
Instructions
We have four lodges and laid two separate trails each with 2 lodges sets of baubles hung on tree branches along the route. A coupe of leaders needed to Prep routes 20 minutes prior to meeting start time hanging baubles along hike route and laying glow sticks as tracking signs. Route is best ending somewhere with a group of trees as once each lodge has made it to the destination using the tracking signs they can hang their collected baubles on their Christmas trees which have already been decorated with the candy canes and lights (one tree per lodge). Beavers use their torches along the route to find their lodge coloured baubles and place them in the lodge stocking (we normally get the lodge leaders to hold the stocking on route). When they get to the Christmas tree destination they can decorate their tree with their baubles. The lodge who collects all or most of their lodge coloured baubles are the winners. We normally have hot chocolate by the christmas trees once every one has arrived. We usually end our term with this event which our beavers always vote for doing at the beginning of the term as they love it so much.
