Alternative Christmas Party!
Get your group to wear their most colour clothes, Hawaiian shirts, hula skirts etc.
Games: - limbo
- 'get to know you' beach ball games
Party food: Ham and pineapple pizzas. Cheese and pineapple on cocktail sticks.
Surfboard decorating and 'surfing'

Resources

Beach ball with categories written on (eg 'what makes me laugh', 'my favourite food/film', etc)
Long bamboo stick, music for limbo game
Lots of cardboard cut into surfboard shapes, felt tip pens, stickers. Beach Boys' Surfing USA song.

Instructions

Start with a warm up game, Getting to Know You. Stand in a circle, and throw the prepared beach ball to a YP. They catch the ball and answer the question nearest their hands.
Limbo game - leaders hold bamboo stick, play party music, and YP walk under the stick in a line. Lower stick until they can't go any lower.
Decorate cardboard surfboards. Play Beach Boys and judge the YP on their 'surfing' skills on their newly decorate surfboards.
More beach ball games - held between knees, dropped into a bucket or YP in a line, have to pass under/over to the next person.
Finish with party food.
Guaranteed fun and not a snowflake in sight!
