Description

A wide game in the woods, based on the old story of pirate Barbarossa who has his treasure buried near a big tree in a wood nearby.

Resources

Big tree, ladder, powerful torch, two balls of wool, 'treasure' to be found - e.g. tea lights or peanuts, darkness, two tables.

Instructions

Place a leader in a large tree equipped with the powerful torch, prior to the game; scatter and hide treasure all around the tree which needs good access all around.

The aim of the game is for two teams to creep up, search and collect as much treasure as possible. However: this is guarded by the old pirate Barbarossa. Each player gets a woolly 'life" tied around their wrist and tries to creep up unnoticed. Barbarossa howls loudly and regularly sends a flashlight down, catching a player; the player has to rip off their 'life' and return to base to get a new one.

Two teams play against each other in collecting as much treasure (e.g. tea lights) as possible and bringing this back to base; Lighting the tealights makes this game very atmospheric.
