(You will a different colour per six / team - luminous colours work best)
We use approximately 30 - 50 dragons per six.
Once made, they can be kept for another day.
Whistle
Instructions
Ideally, to be held in a wooded / forest area.
Alternatively a big park or other area where the Cubs can go safely around in their teams.
Prior to the meeting starting, Leaders / Young Leaders hide the dragons in the woods.
The Cubs teams, are allocated a colour of dragon to find.
Tell the Cubs they are not allowed to touch / move other teams dragons and if they are found to have done this, three of theirs will be discounted. Additionally, they are to stay in their teams and take it in turns to find the next dragon.
Give them a time limit of 10 - 15 minutes to find their dragons.
When the time is up, blow the whistle and the Cubs have to make their way back to where they started.
The winning team, is the team to find the most dragons. Keep note of which teams arrive back first. In the instance of a draw, we count the six who made it back first, as the winner.
One the winner has been declared, you get the cubs to swap their coloured dragons with another team.
The Cubs then have to go off into the woods, to hide the other teams dragons again.
After ten minutes, call them back and they then have another turn.
We usually find five rounds are enough to fill an hour and a half
