Description

Beavers make and decorate their own love spoons.

Resources

For each lodge you will need:
1 x mixing bowl
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Paint & glitter
Paint brushes
Grease proof paper
Paper plates

Leaders need:
Microwaves x 2
Pens for writing names

Instructions

Each lodge prepares a batch of salt dough by mixing the flour, salt and water together to form a ball take it in turns to knead the dough until it is smooth and firm, try and knead all of the air bubble out of it.

Each Beaver takes a piece of salt dough about the size of a satsuma and forms into a love spoon.

Carefully transfer the spoons to a plate covered with greaseproof paper, write initials on paper next to spoon. Repeat with each Beaver until the plate is full. Microwave the plate on full power for 3-4 minutes. Then leave the dough to stand for 5 minutes as it gets very hot.

If it doesn't seem hard return to microwave for another couple of minutes.

Each Beaver gets their love spoon back and paints the top, adding glitter if they wish.

Love spoons carefully placed on a paper plate with their initials ready to take home.
