A quick way to learn names of new starts (partially for Leaders benefit also!!)

Resources

A soft ball

Instructions

Children & adults to get into a circle, standing or sitting. Leader starts by saying a name & throwing ball to that child. Child then says another name & throws to that child. E.g.,
Thomas to Finlay
Finlay to Edward
Edward to Eve
etc

To make it trickier, the ball cannot be thrown to the same person more than once before everyone has had a shot
