Description
A games night centered on the promise & the law
Resources
1 plate, 1 tennis ball
Dice, laminated sheets with the promise words on
Ball of wool or string
Instructions
Spin the plate / pass the ball - to focus them
Equipment: 1 plate, 1 tennis ball
* Cubs sit in a large circle and give one of them the ball.
* Spin a plate on its side as the ball is passed from cub to cub. The cub who is holding the ball when the plate comes to a rest is out, as is any cub who drops the ball at any time.
* (Maybe spin a couple at a time and have two cubs out, one after the other. Or you could introduce an extra ball.)
PROMISE TAG
Equipment: none
* Two groups of equal number.
* Every member of each group given a word of the promise.
* Groups line up equidistant from beanbag in the middle and when their word is called they have to beat their opponent to get the beanbag back to their line without being tagged.
PROMISE & LAW RELAY
Equipment: Dice / six; laminated word making up the promise and law
* In sixes - each one runs in turn to where the pieces of the promise are and roll a dice.
* if they get an even number they get to take a piece - if not they run back & next one has a go.
* Cubs then re make the sentences to form the correct cub promise / law
* The winning team is the first to collect all words and recreate the sentences correctly.
TOUCH THE CONE - Law Edition.
*Separate in to pairs.
*Each pair has a cone placed equidistant between them (the longer the space between them the more they have to run,)
*Randomly call out BEST, THINK, TURN or CONE. Depending on the word they touch their own BEST - heart, THINK - head, TURN - spin around. If Cone is shouted the winner is the one who touches it first.
DO YOUR BEST
*Standing in a circle a ball of wool is passed from cub to cub
*The cub can not throw the ball to the next cub until they state one time in the last month they Did Their Best.
*Once the ball has made it to every cub then a tangled web of wool should be in the centre. This is a net of good intentions.
*Explain to the cubs how this shows that lots of good actions can make a net to catch us and make the world a better place.
