Cubs Mental Health Awareness Evening
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
An evening of activities to raise awareness of mental health and mental illness. Even though the underlying issues are challenging, the activities are fun for Cubs and are designed to help bring mental health and mental illness out of the closet.
These activities can be used in conjunction with the Community Impact badges. We tied it in with finding out about and supporting our local Young Carers project as young carers often suffer mental distress.

Instructions
The plan for the entire evening is :
What is mental health? 10 minutes
Make Happy Jars. 10 minutes
What is mental Illness? 10 Minutes
What can we do to promote our own mental health? 30 minutes
What can we do to help others? 10 minutes
Total time as written : 70 minutes. This leaves very little time for discussion and you may well need discussion as the Cubs may be happy to talk about issues. The easiest activity to shorten is the physical activity - part of promoting our own mental health - it can easily go from the scheduled 15 minutes down to 5.
All details are on the attached PDF.
