This is a necklace where the pattern actually spells the girl's name.

Resources

Beads - black, white and one other colour. (The third colour is to divide the letters of the name up.
Paper - get the girls to rule up 9 columns - one column for the letter they are coding and 8 for the binary code. - need as many rows as their name requires.
eg Mary = 9 columns and 4 rows.
Bead cord or hat elastic
Optional: necklace clips
