Melted bead suncatcher

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

Unlike most suncatchers and stained glass projects we make out of paper or cellophane, these melted bead suncatchers will last and last and will also withstand the elements for outdoor use.

Resources

Translucent pony beads
Metal baking dishes (such as an old muffin tin or a cake pan) (it’s best to use older or thrift store baking dishes that won't be used for food)
Gas barbecue
Electric drill

Instructions

https://artfulparent.com/making-melted-bead-suncatchers/

Arrange the pony beads into a single layer in metal baking dishes

Place the baking dishes on the barbecue until melted and even, but before the plastic starts melting - about 10 minutes. Doing this step outside on the barbecue helps to manage the fumes from melting plastic.

Once the suncatchers are completely cool, pop them out of the pan and drill a small hole for hanging.

Thread string or ribbon through the hole.
