Description
This recipe makes individual portions of edible slime.
By cooking individually, the preparation is more hygienic.
This is a more eco-friendly option than borax based slime.
Note: This recipe is easily adaptable to be gluten free. Buy gluten free marshmallows and check other ingredients are gluten free.
Resources
Marshmallows (we used large ones)
Cornflour
Vegetable based oil
Sprinkles (optional)
Food colouring (optional)
Measuring spoons
Teaspoons/or popsicle sticks for stirring
Microwave proof cups (taller cups work the best)
Instructions
Place eight large marshmallows into cup and cook in the microwave for 10-15 seconds in five second intervals (to avoid spilling of melted marshmallow over the side of cup). We used a 1100w microwave at 80%. Stir and check that marshmallows are melted. Add 1/4 tsp of vegetable oil and stir. Add 2 Tbsp of cornflour and mix well. (At this point add food colouring if desired). Check that the marshmallow mixture is at a safe temperature and then place on a clean floured surface (using cornflour) and knead, adding more cornflour if necessary, until mixture is no longer ‘sticky’ and is stretchy like slime. At this point knead in 2 tsp of sprinkles. Then ‘play’, ‘stretch’ and eat the result!
