Description

Beavers (easily extendable for Cubs/Scouts) are on a plane which has crash landed on an island in the middle of the ocean.

It is almost dark, and it looks like a hurricane is coming. You don't know what is out there, you are exhausted and need shelter and safety to ride out the storm and whatever else is out there.

Build a shelter to protect your lodge from the materials you have around you.

Just make it harder for Cubs/Scouts.

Resources

Per lodge:
Tarp/polythene sheet
A rope
Tent pegs
2 x broom handles
2 x water bottles/old washing up liquid bottles for the leaders

Instructions

In their lodges they need to work together to build a shelter before nightfall. It is already dusk and the hurricane is rapidly approaching! They have a maximum 30 minutes to build their shelter.

The Young People will need to tie knots to secure the rope either to the broom handles or between trees.

Once it's built, leaders need to check it is waterproof - use an old washing up bottle and spray water around liberally whilst the lodge members are sat inside!!
