Description

A simple, fast and fun game that can be played inside or out. Players are never out for long so young people don't mind when they are out.

Suitable for any age group.

Resources

A soft ball (or two) - we use a foam football.
Some chairs.
A playing area.

Instructions

Place a line of chairs to one side of the playing area. Players use their hand to try and bat the ball so it hits another player below the waist. You cannot hold the ball or kick it or head it. You can (and should) try and dodge a ball heading your way.

If you are hit below the waist you are out. If you are hit above the waist the batter is out. When you are out you sit on the first chair in the row, when another person is out you move along one chair and the new person takes the chair you were in. You continue moving along the chairs as more people are out. When you occupy the last chair in the row, the next person becoming out will enable you to go back into the playing area. (So you only ever have the same number of people out as you have chairs on the side.)

You can vary the number of chairs to suit your group size, you can vary the number of balls in play too.
