Instructions
Give the girls a brief overview of Bonfire night:
Bonfire is always on the 5th of November every year. It is also called Fireworks Night or Guy Fawkes Night. Bonfire Night celebrates Guy Fawkes' failed Gunpowder Plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605. The burning of straw dummies on a bonfire then became a reminder that no one can get away with plotting the king.
Many people light bonfires and get together with friends and family to have a party. Lots of people go to a village, town or city to watch fireworks display and take part in a Bonfire Night celebration with a huge bonfire. Some people also light sparklers and eat jacket potatoes, bonfire toffee and toffee apples.
The Bonfire Night Rhyme:
Remember, remember the 5th of November,
Gunposder treason and plot.
I see no reason, why gunpowder treason,
Should ever be forgot!
Make a Firework Sensory Bottle
1. fill the bottle with one third water.
2. Top up the bottle with about two thirds oil (leave a bit of space at the top of the bottle to allow for the fizz).
3. Add your choice of food colouring and watch what happens. (The food colouring sinks through the oil and mixes with the water at the bottom.)
4. Add the effervescent tablet and let the fizz begin.
5. The tablet makes the water fizz which disrupts the oil and spreads pretty colours and bubbles throughout the mixture!
