Home made alternative to Fat Wood fire lighting sticks

Resources

Short lengths of kiln dried softwood
Saw, axe & chopping block
Old metal oven dish or similar
Stove or heat source
Wax or candles
Safety gloves
Pliers or tongs

Instructions

Melt the wax in the oven dish on the stove
Cut the softwood down to lengths that will fit in the dish and split them so they are no more than a finger thickness
Carefully place the softwood sticks into the wax and leave to simmer for about 10 minutes
Use the pliers or tongs to lift the sticks out of the pane and leave them to dry

Once dried the stick can be feathered or lit even when when and will burn like Fat Wood
