Description

Scouts are given an OS Map, a compass and, a list of 8-Figure Grid References. The scouts then have to figure out how to get to the Grid Reference from their current location without the use of mobile phones. At each of the locations, there can be a small object/prize for the scouts to collect.


Resources

OS Map - 1 per patrol or 1 for the whole group
Compass
Small - Medium-sized objects for the scouts to follow
Torch - If doing it at night

Instructions

Have a leader go out and hide objects in the woods prior to the meeting and jot down the exact location as an 8 figure grid reference.
Don't tell the scouts where they are on the map but you can give hints as to which side of the map they're on and possibly which corner if they are struggling.
