Mother’s Day Parcel Poem

Resources

• copy of poem printed multiple times (one for each Guide) on light card
• strong card (for multiple 7cm x 6cm pieces)
• scissors
• wrapping paper (to suit the occasion)
• 30cm of thin ribbon
• small length of double-sided magnetic tape
• glue

Instructions

1. Type the poem out to cover a space of 6cm x 5cm. Use a decorative font, size 10.
2. Copy and paste several copies of the poem onto one A4 sheet of light card.
3. Print the sheet of poems.
4. Cut out each individual poem and punch a hole in the top right-hand corner.
5. Cut the strong card into pieces approximately 1cm larger than the poem pieces (7cm x 6cm)
6. Cover the strong card with the wrapping paper, so it will replicate a small parcel.
7. Thread the ribbon through the punched hole in the poem.
8. Tie the ribbon around the ‘small parcel’ and finish with a nice bow.
9. Attach a length of magnetic tape to the back of the ‘small parcel’.

This is a very special gift,
That you can never see,
The reason it’s so special is,
It’s just for you from me.

Whenever you are lonely,
Or when feeling blue,
You only have to hold this gift,
And know I think of you.

You never can unwrap it,
Please leave the ribbon tied.
Just hold the box close to your heart
Filled with love inside.
