Description

A fun contest to run a Scout activity remotely, using whatever social media your group uses. We used Whatsapp. I posted a short video to introduce it, and listed the items in writing too. I invited the YP (via parents) to post their times, plus video if they wanted. I sent the video at the beginning of our session and put our end time as the finish time, though there were some late entries. You can ask for their first time, or their fastest time if they want to to practice. You could make putting the items away part of it for a longer challenge.

Resources

A range of everyday household items: A washing up bowl, a teatowel, pencil, 2x4 lego block or similar, plastic cup, tennis ball, teaspoon, shoe (not too heavy), water bottle, hat, group scarf.

Instructions

Assemble all the items. The Cub lies down on the floor on their back, with knees bent. Parent (or whoever) tips all the items out of the bowl at their feet, and the washing up bowl behind their head. The YP picks items up one at a time with their feet, lifting their feet over their head, puts them into the bowl. Who can post the fastest time? Some help is allowed if items roll away.
