Description

TagPro is an online capture the flag game. It requires no registration or installation and you can make private games just for your Scouts.

Resources

Each Scout needs a desktop or laptop computer with a keyboard.
You'll need to be able to explain the game and send a URL to your Scouts.
Ideally have one person who's not playing to help people having trouble or stuck.

Instructions

Shortly before you're about to play:

1. Visit https://tagpro.gg/
2. Click Groups
3. Type a name for your group
4. Do not click "List Group Publicly"
5. Click Create Group
- Check Self-Assignment is ticked (Allows players to rejoin late and still join a team)
- These maps are recommended: Lemon, Marauder, Transillio
- Set Overtime to "No Overtime"
- Minutes: 6
- Change "Capture Mercy" to "No Mercy Rule" (this means your games will always be 6 minutes long and not finish early)
6. Share the URL in the address bar with your Scouts and have them load it. Let them chat away until everyone has joined.
7. Introduce the starting screen:
- You can't change your nickname
- On the left is Team Selection. They can put themselves into equal teams but they don't know who's who (Everyone is called Someball).
- On the right is Chat.
8. Once everyone is connected jump in then explain the rules. Some Scouts will listen, some will try and figure it out themselves.
- The aim of the game is to get the enemy flag back to your base while your flag is there (the maps above are all this style, other maps have slightly different objectives)
- If you touch a sharp thing you pop, and wait a few seconds to respawn.
- If you're carrying the flag and someone touches you, you pop.
- There are a few powerups you can collect:
-- One gives you extra speed
-- One lets you pop non-flag carriers (or if you have the flag you get an extra life before you pop)
-- Some things only apply to the matching team colour. For example the buttons which toggle force fields, and some speed boosters are colour coded.
9. After a game finishes the scores will show up. After a few seconds hit Escape and everyone will return to the Start Screen. Pick another map and click go again.
10. Repeat as necessary! 3-4 games is probably good.

Troubleshooting. This section needs completing as people figure out problems!
- If someone gets disconnected they can just re-join using the same link.
- If the leader gets disconnected they should still be able to re-join using the same link (in the same browser).
