Description

Joey in the Pouch is a game played in Australia, adapted here for videoconferencing. In Australia a "Joey" is the younger section (Beaver age)


Resources

Videoconference software with ability for host to hide/show users videos and ability to rename participants.

Instructions

- Zoom Meeting: while admitting participants from the waiting room, change all their names to a full stop and let them know it is for a game

- Start singing a campfire song

- Go to drop down option on a Joey (Scout) and select “Stop Video”

- The Joey’s image will disappear and the others have to guess who is missing

- When the missing Joey is named, go to drop down option again and select “Ask to start video”

- Joey is then prompted on their screen as per image below and returns to group.

While the selected Joey is not visible, they can still see and hear everyone else. Joeys were told before the game that they would need to respond to the prompt to return their image to the screen.
