Virtual Campsite Location Planning
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Review a campsite location and pick the best places to pitch tents and set up a campsite.
Resources
Using a Google account, make a copy of this Jamboard: https://jamboard.google.com/d/1oxqc7BzPEc1CgySdKmF4oxQfEpyv0VnlE5u5y3DIcD0/edit?usp=sharing
This contains 4 different campsites and the same set of tents etc (the items to place can be moved once you've made your copy).
The attached PDF is an export, but isn't editable (it could be printed and the tents cut out and placed at home or at a face-to-face meeting, or used to recreate)
Instructions
The red lines are contour lines to indicate a change in elevation (i.e. a slope). Blue is water (a pond and a river with a plank to walk across).
All of the colourful squares on the right can be moved and placed anywhere on the campsite image. They include: 3 x tents for Scout Patrols, 3 x tents for Leaders, a dining tent, a cooking tent, a storage tent, a first aid tent, a campfire area, an axe/wood cutting area and a flagpole.
Videoconferencing (group): Screen share the Jamboard and allow Scouts to pick where they want each item (host can move items once Scouts have decided on placement)
Virtual meeting (individual): Scouts make their own copy of the Jamboard and make their tent. If this is done during a Virtual Scouting Live meeting, they can show their layouts once complete. This can also be done "At Home" and shared back with a leader (either with a link or by sharing a downloaded PDF of the Jamboard)
Face-to-Face:(a) As group video conference, show on a projector, or (b) print pages and cut out the tents to place them.
All: After the Scouts have set up their campsite, discuss why they have made their choices.
Challenge: The challenge level can be increased or decreased by adding/removing tents (click on one, then click on the three dots and select duplicate or delete)
