Decorate glass containers for festival
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Using glass jars or ramekins to create decorative containers for tea lights.
Can be used as a Christmas or Diwali craft activity.
Could also be used for Halloween
Resources
Glass jars / ramekins
Foil or Glitter card (plain card may also be used)
Coloured Tissue Paper
Scissors
Glue Stick
Sticky Tape
Tea Light or Battery operated tea light
Optional:
Sequins / Adhesive Gems
Glitter
Hot Glue Gun
Cotton Wool
Instructions
Measure the height and circumference of the jar or ramekin and cut a rectangle piece of big enough to wrap around the entire jar. For safety it is best to be a few mm shorter than the height of the jar.
Cut out shapes from the card at intervals. I found it easiest to fold the card and cut symmetrical shapes like hearts and diamonds. Christmas tree, tear drop (flame) and snowman, pumpkin or ghost silhouettes would also work. Shapes could be drawn on the card and cut out if preferred.
Using a glue stick apply tissue paper to the back of the card. I used 1 colour which looks effective from the inside, but neat squares of different colours would also work.
Stick the ends of the card together with sticky tape (or clear PVA) to form a tight fit around the jar.
YP may like to add additional decoration:
Cotton wool along the bottom to denote snow
Gems, sequins & glitter to add sparkle
Drawings of seasonal items
Greetings; old greetings cards could be used.
