This activity aims to encourage Guides to research online. Possible
events that Guides could research include:
Sputnik (4 October 1957), Yuri Gagarin (12 April 1961), Valentina
Tereshkova (16 June 1963), Apollo Missions (1961 – 1972), Space Race
(1957 -1970), building the International Space Station (1998 – now)
Yuri Gagarin’s first ever human spaceflight is marked on Yuri’s Night,
held 12 April every year: https://yurisnight.net/ Guides might plan
their own Yuri’s Night space party.
The ISS marks 20 years of human occupation on 4 November 2020.
